Kyokushinkai Karate

The summer grading tests took place last weekend and a full report will be in the next article. New starters are welcome from now until the end of September. This is a perfect time to start. Classes are available for anyone over the age of eight, with no upper limit. Classes continue as normal through the school holidays.

Next week sees club instructor Iain Rodger, along with Sean McQuade, Darryl McLaughlin and Charlie McLaughlin, head south to the Peak District to take part in the National Kyokushinkai training camp with almost two months’ worth of normal class time crammed into a weekend.

Training continues as normal during the school holidays with seniors on Wednesdays from 6pm to 7:30pm; juniors on Wednesdays from 4.30pm to 6pm and Sundays 11am to 1pm. Find the club on Facebook Senshi Do Kickboxing or email

Shukokai Karate

The clubs take a break during the school holidays and resume in August.
Argyll Shukokai has clubs in Inveraray, Oban and Dalmally. Anyone interested in joining these clubs can get details from Kenny Gray on 07884 183905.


Classes are at 7.30 pm with BJJ on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays and MMA on Thursdays.

Wado Kai Karate

The Park Primary School class is now closed until after the school summer holidays. These sessions, for children aged 7 to 10 years, will resume at the Oban school on August 26 at 3.15pm. Contact Mike Faulkner – – for more details.

On June 25, the club based at Dunbeg Primary School will be holding its summer grading. Five students are hopeful of achieving success at belts ranging from yellow to purple.

There will be no standard training session that night. Normal training will resume once the August term begins.

Knights Of The Tower – Medieval Combat Oban
