A start date for the construction of a new all-weather pitch at Islay High School has been announced as July 8.
Councillor Robin Currie, who pushed to get this project in the council’s capital budget two years ago, said this week that he is delighted: ‘I can confirm that the pre-start meeting for this project took place on Monday June 10 and The Terry Walters Partnership will be overseeing the works on behalf of the council, and All Sports Construction and Maintenance Limited have been appointed as the main contractors.
‘The work is scheduled to commence on site on July 8 and should be completed within 16 weeks.’
Councillor Currie continued by saying: ‘I’m really pleased that the work is starting soon as it is a much needed facility for the schools and the wider community and hopefully will be a facility that will be well used.’
