Oban residents are being warned of a scam currently targeting Argyll residents and businesses where people are receiving an automated call, allegedly by a local business, to say they have an overdue invoice that needs to be paid.

One Oban Times reader received such a call, claiming to be from Wyvex Media, the parent company of The Oban Times. The call was a hoax.

Police are again reminding the public not to be taken in by unexpected automated or unsolicited telephone calls and to end the call immediately. Under no circumstances give any personal details to the caller.
