Nine members of the Lochaber Swim Team competed at the North District Aberdeen Time Trials at the end of May.

This was the last opportunity to achieve qualifying times for the Scottish Swimmer Meet, one of the major national swim meets for the age group swimmers. This is an invitation-only event and the top 20 swimmers in Scotland, at each event, are invited after this event is finished.

The team achieved 40 new personal bests, 10 new club age group records and four new club records, as well as five first places, five second places and seven third place swims.

Coach Yvonne Clarke said: ‘As a coach, I feel this could be our swimmers best ever performance. When the pressure was on, they produced best time after best time, and yet, until Sunday afternoon, most were still fighting for the times to allow them to swim at the summer meet.

Yvonne thanked the technical officials who helped during the weekend, which allowed the swimmers to swim at this meet and parents who assisted her on poolside.

The team now look forward to Edinburgh in July for the Scottish Summer Meet with seven swimmers competing, the most ever. Before then, however, the team will be competing at the Scottish Schools Team Relay.
