Fort William, Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd, May 24: sold 123 store cattle, five adult head of breeding cattle, 12 OTM cattle and 746 sheep.

Bullocks (61) averaged 215.6p and sold to 295.8p per kilo for a pair of 240kg Charolais crosses from Moy Farm, Banavie, and £980 gross a 520kg Limousin cross from Balmaglaster, Spean Bridge.

Heifers (60) averaged 194.3p and sold to 263.6p per kilo for a 330kg Limousin cross from Keil Farm, Ardgour and £910 gross for a 440kg Simmental cross from Balmacaan Farm, Drumnadrochit.

Young bulls (2) averaged 154.5p and sold to 174.6p per kg and £550 gross for a 315kg Limousin from Lochuanagan, Fort Augustus.

Breeding cattle (5) sold to £1,240 gross for a Simmental cross cow with a Limousin calf at foot from Arderry, Strontian.

OTM cattle (12) averaged 134.6p and sold to 181.3p per kilo for a 480kg Limousin cross from Ardtornish Farms, Morven, and £930 gross for a 785kg Shorthorn cross from Moy Farms.

Store lambs (320) averaged £45.18 and sold to £81 gross for a Cheviot from 12 Aultgrishan, Gairloch.

Ewes with single lambs at foot (39) sold to £100 gross (twice) for Texel cross ewes with Suffolk cross lambs from Balmaglaster, Spean Bridge and also for a Cheviot ewe with a Cheviot lamb at foot from Benhaint, Kilchoan.

Ewes with twin lambs at foot (23) averaged £117.43 and sold to £130 gross (twice) for Cheviot ewes with Suffolk cross lambs and also for Texel cross ewes with Suffolk cross lambs from Balmaglaster.

Ewes with lamb & a half (11) averaged £113.09 and sold to £134 gross for Suffolk cross ewes with Suffolk cross lambs from Balmaglaster.

Feeding ewes (280) averaged £38.14 and sold to £70 gross for Suffolk crosses from Balmaglaster.

Feeding sheep (73) averaged £39.92 and sold to £63 gross for Cheviots from Isle of Muck Farms, Isle of Muck.

Prime Heifers reached 248ppkg for a Limousin from D Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canonbie purchased by T Johnston, Butcher, Falkirk and to £1582 again for a Limousin from Brockwoodlees purchased by H A Black & Sons, Butcher, Stirling.

Prime Bullocks topped at 238ppkg Twice for a Limousin from Brockwoodlees purchased by T Johnston, Butcher, Falkirk and again for a Limousin from A Pettigrew, Faskine, Airdrie purchased by T Johnston, Butcher, Falkirk and to £1548 for a British Blue from Rathillet Farm, Cupar.

Also forward were 77 OTM Cattle. Fleshed Beef OTM’s averaged 144.5p selling to 170ppkg for a British Blue from D & J McKerrow, Nochnary and to £1520 for a Charolais from J Millar, Lochend. The overall average for OTM’s including Feeding Types levelled out at 137ppkg. With a small plain show of Dairy Cows forward, the average levelled out at 90p selling to 96p from D Graham, West Backs and to £670 from the same home.
OTM Males sold to 160p for an Aberdeen Angus from Carskiey Estate, Southend and to £1250 from R & R Stevenson, Muirside of Kinneddar.
