DIAMOND WEDDING
JOHNSTON – Jimmy and Gladys (née Cameron), married at Acharacle Parish Church, Ardnamurchan on March 27, 1959, by Rev M McRitchie.
DEATHS
FORSYTH – On April 4, 2019 at Lorn and Islands hospital, Oban, surrounded by her loving family and after a short illness, Alexandra (Lexy) née MacLean, aged 81, much loved mum to Duncan and Alison and mother-in-law to Lynn and Roy, loving granny to Kieran, Kyle, Blair, Shannon and Cloudie, a dear sister and aunt. Sadly missed. Funeral will take place from Oban Parish Church, Glencruitten Road, Oban on Friday April 12 at 1.00 pm. Thereafter to Pennyfuir Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Retiring collection/donations if desired for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland.
MACLACHLAN – Peacefully at home on April 6, 2019, aged 67, Marion née Telford, devoted mother to Lewis and Steven, and daughter of the late William and Jessie Telford.
MACSWAN – Peacefully on March 31, 2019, at Culduthel Care Home, Inverness, in her 84th year, Christina née MacGregor, dear sister to the late Ian and Mary MacGregor, much loved mum of Kathleen, Janet and Eileen, mother-in-law to Derek and a loving granny and great granny.
McCORQUODALE – Callum. Peacefully on April 4, 2019, at Ayr Hospital. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. The funeral will be held at Lismore Church on Monday April 15, at 12noon. All welcome. Family flowers only please, if desired donations to Alzheimers Scotland.
McFARLANE – Mrs Mona McFarlane (nee Douglas), 83, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Douglas, 6 Mossfield Avenue, Oban, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2019 at West Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. Much loved and sadly missed.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
CRAIG – The family would like to thank everyone for their support following the sad loss of Douglas. Thank you to Ian at D&A Munn for his guidance and professional care. Thanks to Rev. Dugald Cameron for a comforting service and to Peter Park who assisted at the graveside. Special thanks to Neil Horne for his warm eulogy, sharing many memories about Douglas. Many thanks to Moreen Gracie for the lovely flowers and to John Horne and staff at the Royal Hotel for a lovely buffet. Special thanks to all the Brethren who attended, many who travelled far to be there and to those who assisted along with the Oban RNLI. Thank you also to the pipers. A big thank you to Robert Cruickshanks for his continued support to the family. Lastly, thanks to all who paid their respects at the church and graveside. Donations to North Argyll Diabetes Support Group and Oban RNLI amounted to £965.73.
KELLY – The family of the late June Kelly of Kilmallie Road, Caol, would like to acknowledge the many expressions of sympathy and gestures of kindness shown to us following our sad loss. We offer thanks to all who took time to attend her funeral. To Alan Smurthwaite for the personal and touching service. Your kindness and support at this time was much appreciated. A special thanks to Drs Munro, Pooleman and Massie of Tweeddale Surgery along with the Macmillan Nurses for the wonderful support given to our mother and family throughout her last year. £121 was raised for Lochaber Macmillan Nurses.
MACINTYRE – Lorna McIntyre extends thanks to friends and neighbours for their companionship and for their comforting wishes on the death of her husband Jimmy. She is also most grateful to the staff and nurses at Bowman Court who tended Jimmy with such care and tenderness and made his final years so pleasant and peaceful for them both. She counts them friends too.
TURNER – The family of the late Mary Turner would like to thank all neighbours, friends and relatives for the overwhelming amount of support and generosity shown to them after their sad loss, special thanks go to the Belford Hospital and Raigmore ICU for the dedicated care shown to Mary. Thank you to McDonald Bros for the beautiful flowers, to Meg and the staff at The Railway Club for the generous catering, to Fr Donald MacKinnon for his comfort and prayers, to John and the team at John McLellan Funeral Directors for the care and the personal attention to detail in the funeral arrangements. Finally thank you to all who attended the service and gave so generously the amount of £382.67 for Belford Hospital Patient’s Fund.
