Arisaig WI held its latest meeting last Thursday which took the form of an open meeting at which there were two visitors.

The speaker was Anthony Titley who talked about his time in Nepal and gave an absolutely fascinating insight into the social structures, traditions and attitudes towards women and lower caste members of society and society in general.

He expanded on the language and the usage of differing titles dependant on who was being addressed and also showed off some beautiful leather bags made by local people.

The competition results were:
A painted stone -1, Vera MacDonald; 2, Edwina King; 3, Anne Cameron; 4, June Cairns.

A leather item – 1, Anne Cameron; 2, Daphne Heaps; 3, Vera MacDonald; 4, June Cairns.

The raffle was won by Vera MacDonald.  After tea was enjoyed business was conducted.

The branch’s next meeting will be held on April 18 at 2.30pm in the Astley Hall.
