Teacher Duncan Sinclair said farewell to Oban High School earlier this month after 25 years of teaching mathematics.

Mr Sinclair takes up a new role at Elgin High School.

In an online tribute, the school said: ‘Today we said a very fond farewell to our wonderful colleague and friend Mr Duncan Sinclair. Duncan has taught Mathematics at Oban High School for 25 years and has shaped the lives of so many of our youngsters.

‘We are very sad to see Duncan go but we wish him and his family all the very best in their move.’

Former students also paid tribute to the maths teacher. He was described as an ‘absolute gentleman’ and an ‘excellent teacher’ by many.

‘A huge loss to Oban High but a massive gain for Elgin High. A teacher who changes the lives and futures of so many teenagers, including my three who hold you in the highest regard,’ one person said.

While others said: ‘Best teacher I ever had.’
