BIRTHS
SWIFT – Edward and Fiona are delighted to announce the birth of Dylan Swift, born February 26, 2019, weighing 8lbs 7ozs. First grandchild for Eddie Swift and Kate MacAllister and Dugie and Judy Campbell.

DEATHS
BAIN – Archibald (Archie), Inveraray/Edinburgh. Peacefully at the Western General Hospital on Monday February 25, 2019. Archie, beloved husband of the late Bridget, loving son of the late Annie and James Bain, much loved dad of Archie, Sheila and Donald and adored brother of the late Hughie, Rena and Deandie.
CAMERON – Suddenly but peacefully whilst on holiday in Bulgaria on February 25, 2019, Nicoll Cameron, aged 77 years. A lifelong supporter of Scotland and the SNP. Beloved husband of Diana, loving father of Ewan and Lewis, a respected father-in-law of Nicola and Katriona, dear grandfather of Mia, Arran, Brody and Iona, brother of Donald and of the late Douglas and a good friend to many. Funeral service to take place at Warriston Crematorium, Edinburgh, EH7 4HW on Tuesday, March 12 at 3pm to which all friends are respectfully invited. Family flowers only but donations if so desired may be made to the R.N.L.I as you leave the service. Mourners are invited to wear some tartan.
CHALMERS – Nancy (née Maclean) died peacefully at home in Brussels on Friday, March 1, 2019. Beloved wife of Gordon, daughter of the late Hector and May and sister of Martin. Funeral will take place in Brussels on Friday, March 8.
GALBRAITH – Peacefully on March 2, 2019 at the Lorn and Islands Hospital with his family at his side Robert (Gal), aged 84. Beloved husband of Val and loving father of Sonny, Sandy, Jayne and Wendy much loved grandpa of Lisa and Abby and dear brother and uncle. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Oban Parish Church at 1.00pm. Family flowers only please.
JAMES – The Honourable Jaquetta Mary Theresa (née Digby) died peacefully on February 22, 2019, aged 90. Formerly of Torosay Castle, Craignure, Isle of Mull and latterly of Sherborne, Dorset. Devoted wife of the late David Guthrie James, dearly loved mother of Peter, Michael, Diana, Patsy, Christopher and Kenelm. Loving grandmother of Daniel, Susannah, Adam, Anna, Rowan, Mairina, Fenella, Sahaya, David and Sholto. Loved great-grandmother. Funeral Mass will take place at the Sacred Heart and St Aldhelm Church, Sherborne on Tuesday March 19, 2019 at 11am. Family flowers only. Enquiries c/o Brister and Son Funeral Directors. MACDONALD – Peacefully after a short illness and in the arms of her children, on February 27, 2019, 82 years young, Kathy (née Campbell), Dunbeg, devoted mum to Kerry and Josephine and much loved granny to Seóras. RIP.
MACLEOD – Peacefully in the Belford Hospital, Fort William on Tuesday February 26, 2019, Murdo MacLeod aged 83 years. Requiem Mass will take place on Monday March 11, 2019 in St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Fort William at 12 noon. Followed by interment in Glen Nevis Cemetery. Flowers welcome donations if desired for Ward 1 Belford Hospital.
MILLER – Peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 28, 2019, George Leslie. Much loved dad of David and Alastair and grandad of eight. Funeral will be held at 1pm at Oban Parish Church on Thursday, March 7 and thereafter to Pennyfuir Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to The Macmillan Day Bed Unit at Oban Hospital.
SHARP – Peacefully at Lorn and Islands hospital, Oban on March 1, 2019, in his 85th year, Alexander (Alec), beloved husband of 58 years to Marion, dear father to Thomas and Linda, brother to Chris and Tommy and a loving grandfather to Ollie, Ethan, Freya and Innes.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
ADDISON – The family of the late Hendry Addison would like to express their deepest gratitude for all the kindness shown to them on the death of their dad and granda. Hendry passed away at home on February 10, 2019 and the family would like to thank all of the medical team in Mallaig for their excellent care. A huge thanks to McLellans Funeral Directors for their fantastic service and for making a difficult time a little easier. Thank you both to the Rev Stuart Goudie and Mrs Elizabeth Fleming for a lovely funeral service. Thanks also to the West Highland Hotel for the refreshments after the service and McDonald Bros Florist for the flowers. Massive thanks to all, for the cards, the flowers, the food, the offers of accommodation and to everyone who attended the funeral service in such great numbers.
BELL – Alex, Anne and family would like to say thank you to all those who supported us during Iris’s short illness. We received unreserved help from all at Easdale Medical Practice whose doctors and associated nursing staff were so kind and supportive. Thanks also to Hamish Hoey and Son funeral directors who provided us with a first class funeral service and to Ellen Gibson of the Humanist Society who conducted an inspired funeral ceremony. Special thanks go to the Cardross Inn who provided catering for all the people who travelled large distances. Finally, a big thank you to all friends and family and all their kind wishes, flowers and donations to our chosen cause.
GRAY – The family of the late Winnie would like to thank everyone for all the kind expressions of sympathy received following their sad loss, for all the visits, cards and kindness shown at this time. A special mention to the Renal Unit at the Belford Hospital for all their kindness and care over the years to Winnie. Heartfelt thanks to Linnie at John McLellan Funeral Directors for her comforting words and personal service. Thanks to Richard Corbett for the comforting service, to Caol Community Centre for the lovely catering. Finally, grateful thanks to all who attended the service and donated so generously the amount of £722.53 was collected for the Belford Hospital Renal Unit.
LINTOTT – The family would like to express their gratitude to all friends, neighbours and colleagues for their kindness and support following the sad loss of Brian. A beloved brother to Colin, dear cousin and friend to many. Special thanks to Ian and all staff of D&A Munn for support and professional care. Thanks to Bishop Kevin Pearson and Provost Margi Campbell for a comforting, lovely service. Also sincere thanks to the church members who provided a wonderful tea. Thanks to everyone that attended. Cards, flowers and messages have been a great comfort. Donations raised for the ICU ward in Glasgow Royal Hospital were £400.

McLENNAN – Kathleen and family would like to sincerely thank all family, neighbours and friends for all the messages of sympathy and the support and kindness shown to them following the sad loss of Kenny. Grateful thanks to district nurses and doctors from Dalmally Medical centre, staff in A & E, ward B and Macmillan Day Bed Unit in Lorn and Islands Hospital. Thanks also to Catriona and all at Hamish Hoey and Son for efficient funeral arrangements, Petals for beautiful floral tributes, Rev M. Millar for a lovely service, Alasdair MacDonald for his accordion playing in church, and all who attended the funeral from near and far, Dalmally Hall Committee for the lovely buffet afterwards. The collection at the church amounted to £916.80 for the Macmillan Day Bed Unit in Oban Hospital.
