Rosie Curtis from Kilchoan was recently presented with the Queen’ Fire Service Medal at Buckingham Palace by Prince William, the Earl of Strathearn, for her service to the local community.

Last Friday (February 14), family and friends organised a party in the community centre to celebrate her award. Rosie’s cousin Morag Doherty recounted that Rosie had been with the local fire team for more than 20 years and was now the watch manager.

As well as being involved with numerous other local groups, Rosie is married to Dave, mother to Chloe, Megan and Alan, and manager of the Mowi fish farm at Macleans’ Nose.

Rosie said how proud she was to receive this honour and to be part of the West Ardnamurchan community.
