A gritter driver was taken to hospital in the early hours of today after his vehicle overturned at Appin.

It happened at about 3.30am near the Old Inn on the A828.

Police were called to make the road safe but had to wait until daylight before the gritter could be removed from the scene.

A police spokesperson said he had not been made aware of any injuries received by the driver.

The road is now clear.
