Oban Lorne U18s welcomed Bishopton/ Cambuslang U18s to North Connel on Saturday for their latest U18 league match.
The home side have been having a great season and are challenging for the league title along with Stewartry RFC, who travel to Oban this Saturday.
Oban fielded a strong team boosted with six boys from Highland neighbours Lochaber RFC.
It was one-way traffic in the opening exchanges as Oban ran in three tries in the first 10 minutes for a 17-0 lead. Tries were scored by second row Craig Cook, stand-off Angus Neil and number 8 Kieron Morrison. Angus Neil’s try was scored straight from the kick-off with the Oban player running in from his own half.
Oban ran in a further three tries before half-time for a 38-0 lead with Kieron Morrison grabbing a second, Jordan Norman touching down from a powerful trademark run and Lochaber’s Lewis Morrison also getting on the scoresheet.
Into the second half Angus Neil and Craig Cook got their second tries of the day giving a 50-0 lead. With the 50-point gap the rest of the game was played out as a development fixture.
Saturday’s win lifts Oban to joint first place in the league along with Stewartry RFC.
Kick-off at 2pm is likely to be played at North Connel in a winner-takes-all match!
