CRAWFORD – On November 29, 2018, peacefully at home, Annie Cook Crawford (Nan), in her 91st year, beloved daughter of the late Gilbert and Annie Crawford, a dearly loved sister, sister-in-law, aunt and great aunt. Funeral service at Tarbert Free Church, on Monday, December 10, at 12.00 noon, interment thereafter at Skipness Cemetery, to which all friends are respectfully invited. Donations if desired to MS Mid Argyll.
HART – Jean formerly of Lochaline, died peacefully at home in Birmingham on November 20, 2018. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 13, at Kiel Parish Church, Lochaline at 1pm followed by interment in Kiel Cemetery. Family flowers only please. All friends respectfully invited.
MACDOUGALL – Grace, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2018 at Lochside Care Home, Helensburgh, (formerly of Bunessan, Isle of Mull), sadly missed. Dearly loved wife of Iain, mother of Shelagh, Alasdair, Callum and Iona. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 6 at 1.15pm in Cardross Crematorium.
MACFADYEN – Ellen. Peacefully at Crosshouse Hospital on Sunday, December 2, 2018, Ellen, beloved wife of John, dear mother of Susan, Campbell and Shona and loving grandmother of Sophie. Funeral service at West Kilbride Parish Church on Monday, December 10 at 1pm, thereafter to West Kilbride Cemetery to which all friends are respectfully invited. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu to Ward 3C, Crosshouse Hospital if desired. No black ties please.
MACKENZIE – James (Jas) of Normanton previously of Inverlochy, Fort William, passed away peacefully in Castleford Lodge Care Home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 26 aged 78 years. Devoted husband of Beryl, cherished dad of Scott and Shonagh and a much loved father-in-law, grandad, brother, uncle and good friend to so many. James will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. The funeral service and cremation will be held on Wednesday, December 12 at Pontefract Crematorium at 12.20 pm. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu for Alzheimer’s Society may be left in the donation box outside the Crematorium exit doors. All enquiries to R.J. MACKINTOSH – In Fort Frances, Ontario on October 26, 2018, Dr Angus Joseph MacKintosh beloved husband of Carole Martin (of 54 years), loved father of Niall, Alistair, Diarmid, Ewen, Shona, Torquil, Aela and Lindsay, Proud seanair of his grand children and a dear brother of Isleen (U.S.A.), Morag and Joan. Third son of the late James and Maryanne MacKintosh, formerly of Nether Lochaber Hotel, Onich. Interment later at Cillie Choirill, Roy Bridge. R.I.P.
WANT – At Islay Hospital, Bowmore, on November 27, 2018, David in his 75th year. Dearly beloved and devoted husband to the late Margaret MacKinnon. Much loved dad of Gordon and Alasdair, adored Grampa Grumps of Amy, Fiona and Melody. A dear father-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and grand uncle. Much loved and sadly missed.
WEATHERALL – Peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, Catherine (Katie). Beloved wife of the late Jack, much loved mum of Anne and Carine, dear mum-in-law of Wolfgang and cherished granny of Andy and Jamie.
CLAYTON – Cathie and family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all relatives, friends and neighbours for all the kindness and sympathy shown to them following the sad loss on the death of Stan, a much loved husband, father and grandad. Also to all who attended the church and graveside. Special thanks go to the staff of Ward B, Lorn and Islands Hospital, the A&E Department, Paramedics and respiratory nurses for their sensitive care during his illness. Grateful thanks to Rev Dugald Cameron for his help and comforting funeral service, to D&A Munn Funeral Directors for their dignified services and finally our thanks to Manor House Hotel for their catering following interment. Donations to Oban Hospice amounted to £389.70.
DENNISON – John, Maisie, Calum, Elaine and family warmly thank everyone for their support, flowers, cards, telephone calls, visits, home baking, tears, hugs and handshakes after the unexpected sudden passing of Neil. Our grateful thanks to the Macmillan Nurses for their care and kindness to Neil during his very short time with them. Thanks also to Scott, John, Linnie and colleagues at McLellans for their support and care, also to those who came to tend Neil so unexpectedly at his home. Thanks to Colin, Shiona and Serena for the beautiful flower arrangements and to The Grog and Gruel for their lovely tribute to Neil. Special thanks to Rev Dr John Ross for conducting Neil’s service both in Kilmallie Free Church, Caol and at the graveside, and also for his comforting home visits. Thanks also to Kenneth for making it possible for us to be part of many memories and kind words about Neil from all his many friends. Thanks to Sean for playing some lovely tunes at the Church and graveside and to Stewart and team at the Moorings Hotel, everything was just perfect. Special thanks to all who travelled from near and far to say goodbye to Neil especially with it being so sudden and unexpected. The amazing sum of £1,202.94 was collected at the Church and this has now been shared with the Lochaber Macmillan Nurses and Cat Protection, Fort William Branch. Thank you one and all from the bottom of our hearts.
GRANT – Frances, Donald, Alan and John warmly thank relations, friends and neighbours for their support and kindness; for cards, letters, flowers and many kind expressions of sympathy following the unexpected loss of Bill, their loving husband/Dad, on 16th November. Thanks to Rev Dugald Cameron for his help, guidance and support, and the personal and uplifting church and graveside services; to those on duty at the church, and Ken Moncrieff for his choice of organ music so beautifully played. Thanks to Catriona and the staff of Hamish Hoey and Sons for taking such care in the preparation and carrying out of the funeral, and to Colin and Joan and the staff of The Olive Garden, for their kind hospitality following the interment. Thanks also to the consultants and staff of the respiratory ward at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, for their care and attention during Bill’s short stay. To all those who came from near and far to offer their support and pay their last respects, grateful thanks – your generous donations amounting to £812 will be shared between maritime charities. Finally, thanks also for the many messages of congratulations on the occasion of their Golden Wedding on 31st October.
WHITE – Johnny’s family would like to sincerely thank everyone for their kindness and support, phone calls, cards and flowers following the tragic loss of John (Johnny). Thank you also to the Rev Dugald Cameron for a comforting and compassionate service and to the Royal Hotel for the catering arrangements. We would like to extend a special thank you to Ian MacInnes of D&A Munn for his care, guidance and professionalism in arranging Johnny’s funeral, as his kindness and sensitivity went above and beyond what we could ever have expected. Thank you also to Johnny’s friends and all who travelled from afar to attend the church and graveside to pay their last respects. The retiring collection for ABCD amounted to £500.00.
