Drivers are being warned to take care after  a car came off the road earlier this morning at Oude Dam, near Kilmelford.

Police Scotland tweeted a general message to motorists flagging up a risk of ice and urging drivers to slow down.

A police spokesman said they were alerted to a one car incident on the A816 between Kimelford and Kilninver at 9.30am but there were no injuries and the driver was making their own arrangements to get the vehicle removed.

Plummeting temperatures overnight left many of the district’s rural roads in a treacherous condition although gritters had been out last night.

There was snow on the roads in Dalmally in the early hours and reports of the back road to Connel being like ‘a sheet of ice, not nice at all’.
