Dalmally – United Auctions sold 561 cattle of all classes at their show sale held at Dalmally Auction Mart on Saturday December 1. Cattle sold in keeping with current levels and a good show of stock of all ages sold to the usual strong force of buyers present. Bullocks sold to average £646.45 per head or 213 pence per kilo (- £37.55 per head or -12 pence per kilo). Heifers levelled out at £529.06 or 194 pence per kilo (- £10.18 per head or -5.15 pence per kilo). Mr William Cameron, Keith, judged the various classes and his awards were as follows: Autumn-born bullock: 1st and 3rd = M/s MacInnes, Ruaig, Tiree; 2nd = M/s MacVicar, Lephinchapel. Autumn-born heifer: 1st and 2nd = M/s MacVicar; 3rd = Mr A Ritchie, Barbreck. Spring-born bullock: 1st and 2nd = M/s MacVicar; 3rd = M/s Bennie, Merkins. Spring Born Heifer: 1st and 2nd = M/s MacVicar.
Champion = M/s MacInnes – autumn-born bullock. Reserve Champion = M/s MacVicar – spring-born heifer.

Islay – United Auctions held their annual end of season sale of all classes suckled calves and store cattle at Islay Auction Mart on Saturday November 24. A catalogued entry of 384 sold in keeping with current market trends when the bullocks sold to average £670 per head or 220 pence per kilo (- £12 per head or 4 pence per kilo) whilst heifers levelled out at £628 per head or 208 pence per kilo (+ £25 per head or – 1 pence per kilo). Bullocks from Dunlossit Estate, Lossit sold to £1180 per head and this section per kilo was led by Ardtalla Estate at 258 pence. Heifers from Octofad sold to £980 per head and Dunlossit Estate, Knocklearach sold their consignment in this section to 238 pence.
