Due to disruption concerns, resurfacing works planned on the M898 south of Erskine Bridge have been amended.

Work will be carried out this weekend at nights only from 8pm Friday November 30 to 6am Saturday December 1; 8pm Saturday December 1 to 6am Sunday December 2; and 8pm Sunday December 2 to 6am Monday December 3.

Under this revised schedule, Scotland TranServ will implement a reduced treatment plan, resurfacing those carriageway defects most urgently in need of repair.

At a later date the more deeply affected parts of the M898 southbound carriageway will be treated.

To address these defects a weekend closure will be necessary at a more convenient time.

Scotland TranServ will resurface 1.2 kilometres of the M898 southbound between the Erskine Bridge and the M8 as part of the strategic trunk road maintenance programme.

Initially the road was to be closed all weekend for the £400,000 project to be carried out.

However, major disruptions were expected, especially being close to the Christmas shopping period and with the Scottish Cup Final taking place this weekend.
