Police are following up ideas of putting CCTV cameras on Connel and Ballachulish bridges in a bid to trace getaway thieves.

Ardchattan community councillors brought the subject up at their meeting on Thursday. The idea had originally been discussed at the July meeting following a discussion about thefts of farm equipment, especially quad bikes.

Community councillors were told the force had been requesting vehicle-recognition cameras ‘for some time’.

Connel Bridge is to shut for seven nights from November 6, between 10pm until 5.45am, for maintenance.
