Oban’s Phoenix Cinema has renewed its appeal for funds, after a leaking roof caused it to close the smaller of its two screens.

The cinema posted on its Facebook page: ‘It is with great regret that we have had to close screen two once more. All showings in screen two have been cancelled and taken off sale.

‘We have tried our best to manage the water dripping through, but with the recent downpours it has become increasingly worse. We are waiting for the contractor to seal the roof. Once that is done, we can start repairing the wall and replace the carpet and get bums back on our comfy seats.

‘The best way you can support your local cinema is to attend one of our many films we screen each week. There are also donation boxes in-store if you would like to donate. We are working on setting up an online donation platform as well.

‘Thank you for your continued support, from everyone here at Oban Phoenix we hope to see you soon.’
