There were more than 800 students based in Oban last year, but that is number which is set to grow.

Higher education campuses in the Oban area include the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS UHI), Ballet West and Argyll College UHI, which, along with SAMS, is a partner of the University of the Highlands and Islands.

Is your business making the most of this opportunity? A growing student population can mean more potential customers and a larger pool of potential employees.

To help businesses tap into this student market, the Oban as a University Town project is collating a student information pack, which will include a list of businesses offering special deals for students.

If you would like your student offer listed, for free, email the details to  by October 10, including your business name, website, contact details and a summary of your student offer.

A student offer does not have to be a discount: it could involve a free gift, an upgrade, a student night or event, a loyalty programme, recommend a friend, or tailored products or services.
