New parking charges on Mull are on the way, councillors heard at the Oban, Lorn and the Isles area committee on Wednesday.
Off-street parking at the long stay car park at Craignure ferry terminal, Fionnphort’s Columba Centre and Ledaig will move from free to pay and display.
A council budget decision in February this year triggered a process to create a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), which allows parking enforcement to be carried out by the council.
Councillors heard a ‘small number of comments’ have been received in a consultation, and soon a draft TRO will be published for any further objections to be submitted and any amendments made, before it is agreed and signed into law.
The Mull on-street parking consultation is expected to begin this month. The council officers’ report stated: ‘The appraisal for the proposed new pier at Craignure may impact on parking arrangements.’
