Oban Communities Trust (OCT) has been overwhelmed at the generosity of the people of Oban, its communities and beyond as the community share offer for investment in The Rockfield Centre draws to a close today.
‘We can only say a huge thanks’, said OCT chairman Gordon McNab as the total climbs to £200,000.
‘We have had such an amazing response to the share offer and to raise this amount in such a short space of time reflects the faith in this important facility for the town centre.
‘A large number of people have said they intend to buy shares but have not yet done so. If you are one of these, then please call into the office today. And remember you can club together as an organisation to buy – a lot of folk are even buying shares as Christmas presents.’
The trust held a business breakfast last week at the community huts to outline the plans and the vision for the centre’s future to the town’s businesses. Further tours of the main building were held last weekend to
show everyone what the building will offer to the communities of Oban as well as its visitors.
Today (Thursday August 23), OCT is at the Argyllshire Gathering games in the Heritage Tent and will be on hand to give information, answer any questions about The Rockfield Centre project and sell shares.
For those who still wish to invest, call in to the office by The Rockfield Centre Community Charity Shop today or visit the website www.therockfieldcentre.org/invest.
