Here’s a novel way to advertise a horticultural show at Benderloch’s Victory Hall this weekend.

North Connel & District Horticultural Society member Sue Greenwood said: ‘Woody is situated at the junction of the A828 with the turn off to Achinreir at Barcaldine.  My resourceful husband, John Greenwood, made this dog to advertise the show when I thought of the idea of a dog laden with flowers.   John used wood offcuts he had, cut up an old pair of shoes for the ears and the nose is half a squash ball.  We bought a coir basket, wired it up and filled it with plants and Woody is holding a pot of carnations in his mouth. He is undemanding, does not need walking or feeding, just watering occasionally!’

The show is on Saturday August 25 and opens at 2pm with a sale of produce from 3.15pm.
