The management committee of An Cridhe, the Isle of Coll’s community centre, are delighted to be able to announce they have received funding from the National Lottery Awards for All Scotland, Big Lottery Fund, enabling them to deliver a 12-month programme of cultural events for the local community and visitors.
A spokesperson said: ‘The committee would like to say a huge thank you to all those who support the National Lottery. Your generosity will make a
difference to a small community.
‘Every year An Cridhe’s voluntary management committee organises a variety of cultural events and it is amazing what a small group with limited funds can and has achieved over the six years An Cridhe has been open.
‘The funding will enable us to plan a more varied programme of events and to include something for every age group, particularly during the
quieter winter months.
‘We hope to include film and theatre, run several workshops, add a Gaelic flavour and confirm a visit by a touring circus group. Some of the funding will go towards events at Coll’s first homecoming this September.
‘Our next step will be some community consultation to find out what people would like.’
