Oban’s walking guides received their official certificates last Friday from the Scottish Tourist Guides’ Association.

Oban Walking Tours boast 12 yellow-badge guides, who each underwent an intense two-week training course.

They offer daily 90-minute tours, informing tourists about the history of Oban and its many landmarks.

The guides have been providing tours for a number of weeks now, after successfully passing their course.

However, it was not until last Friday that they officially received their certificates.

Previously, Elaine Robertson, chairwoman of the Port of Oban Cruise Group, said: ‘These are exciting times for the cruise group and establishing yellow-badge certified guides to show off our town will keep Oban one step ahead in providing an excellent tourist experience.’

Andrew Spence, chief executive of BID4Oban, agreed, saying: ‘Yellow-badge guides will further enhance what Oban has to offer visitors and encourage them to stay longer in the town.’
