The West Highland Tennis Tournament ‘hits’ off this Sunday with a full programme of tennis next week, including local events at the beginning, and a championship competition from Friday to Sunday.
The local events at Atlantis Leisure’s courts include an Argyll Day starting at 10am on Sunday July 1, when you can join players from around the county for fun and competitive matches, followed by a Mix & Match Monday, handicap singles on Tuesday, and then, again starting at 6pm, Wimbledon Wednesday, when you are invited to wear ‘Wimbledon whites’ (well, at least one white item).
The local events aim to welcome players of all abilities and are open to locals, tennis club members and visitors to the town. You can find full details at Atlantis Leisure.
The championship events, which runs from Friday to Sunday July 6-8 at Atlantis Leisure in Oban and Taynuilt Sports Club, attract top ranked players from across the UK and we also welcome squads from Texas and Liverpool.
The West Highland Open Tournament is now one of six events in 2018 that will be a Tennis Scotland 1000 Series Event and will form part of the Tennis Scotland Open Tour. Ranking points players receive from the men’s and women singles will count towards the TS Open Tour Leader Board with the top players qualifying for the Tennis Scotland Open Tour Masters Event in December.
More details can be found on the Tennis Scotland website.
