His good looks and the cheeky wee twinkle in his eye saw 15-month-old Kai Duncan Laverty, from Caol, sweep all before him in the Lochaber Times Bonnie Babies competition for 2018.
Kai’s delighted parents, Kenny and Linda, live in Fern Court in Caol, and have four other children – Kai’s older brothers Connor, Kyle and Aaron, plus big sister Shannon.
The couple now receive £500 thanks to Kai and are hoping to use it to improve their garden for the benefit of their family.
‘We were delighted when the editor phoned to say Kai had won – over the moon in fact,’ said Linda, who works at the Moorings Hotel at Banavie.
Linda says Kai never stops. ‘He’s a very happy wee boy, full of beans and always on the go. He’s very popular with everybody and we’re ecstatic that he won.’
It became clear quite quickly that Kai was going to be the one to beat and last week’s votes saw him take his final tally to nearly 800.
Lochaber Times editor Susan Windram was delighted with the response to the competition from readers.
‘It was tremendously popular with our readers, with well over 150 wonderful photographs entered from across the Lochaber Times and Oban Times circulation areas.’
