One hundred lucky people enjoyed an evening at Oban Distillery last night to celebrate the start of Oban Live 2018 weekend.

The select band were treated in Oban Distillery’s 1794 bar and to the launch of the new album EVO from one of Scotland’s finest musical exports, Skerryvore.

A limited 50 tickets were released for the intimate launch event and were made available exclusively for Oban Live ticket holders and Skerryvore fans. A host of VIPs, sponsors, press and local supporters of Oban Live were also invited along.

Oban Live starts today and is the biggest open-air live music concert in Argyll, entertaining thousands with a mix of Scots Trad, pop and rock music. The two-day concert finishes tomorrow night, Saturday June 9.

The town is gearing up to welcome thousands of visitors who will join the Oban natives for one massive cultural party.

The 2018 line-up includes a top stream of acts including Skerryvore, Skipinnish, Tide Lines, Peatbog Faeries, Hermitage Green, Blazin’ Fiddles, Heron Valley and the Sharon Shannon Band (featuring Michael McGoldrick and Susan O’Neill). The event takes place at Oban’s Mossfield Stadium.

The launch event at the distillery also marked the beginning of the Oban Live Fringe, with a stream of live music, activities and special offers taking place over the weekend for Oban Live ticket-holders to enjoy.

Skerryvore entertained attendees, performing a selection of tracks from their new album EVO, their sixth studio album. The evening marked the official launch of the new album. The multi-award-winning eight-piece line-up, firm favourites on the festival scene, will celebrate EVO at Oban Live, their own signature festival, just days before its official June 11 release on the Tyree Records label.
