Oban firefighters paid their respects to colleagues who have fallen in the line of duty at a commemoration on Friday May 4.

To mark Firefighters’ Memorial Day, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service personnel gathered outside their stations and fell silent for two minutes, along with firefighters across the UK.

Argyll and Bute MP Brendan O’Hara supported a Parliamentary Early Day Motion marking the occasion.

He said: ‘Over the past year we have witnessed the dangers and bravery of our own local fire service and this is an excellent opportunity for the community to thank and honour all of our firefighters, particularly in Argyll and Bute.

‘Their heroism and selfless dedication is remarkable, especially as they continuously risk their own lives to keep us safe.’
