Scotland’s annual national rhododendron show took place at the Gibson Hall in Garelochhead on Saturday May 5.
A very popular event, organised by the Scottish Rhododendron Society, the show has in the past been based in a number of venues around Scotland, including Oban, and is open to the public as well as to the members of the society.
This year there were some 30 exhibitors, many of whom entered multiple classes, and the hall was filled with colourful and often scented blooms despite the mixed weather this spring.
Among the winners of the 12 trophies were both amateur growers and public rhododendron gardens.
The Beechgrove Garden photographers were present to record the event and the giving out of prizes. Outside the hall a good selection of rhododendrons and other plants were for sale and many keen gardeners were seen staggering back to their cars with their purchases.
