Police officers in Oban are appealing for information following a break-in at a service station in the early hours of today (Wednesday February 7).

Police were alerted at around 6am after staff members turned up to start work at Birchwood Service Station on Soroba Road, Oban. It is believed the incident took place around 1am.

Three men, who all had hoods up, forced their way in through the front door before making off with a large quantity of cigarettes.

Detective Constable Alasdair Dewar, from Oban CID, said: ‘Police have been checking CCTV as well as speaking to people in the local area to try to trace those responsible.

‘We want to know if anyone has any information that can help us. Were you woken by anything through the night? Did you see anything that may help us with our inquiry?

‘Anyone with information should contact Oban police office via 101, quoting incident number 0411 of Wednesday January 7. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.’
