The Mid Argyll competition in the Argyll series of Sports Hall Athletics was held last Sunday, January 21, in Lochgilphead Joint Campus.
This competition was the first of four local area competitions to be held in Argyll between January and March.
After the Mid Argyll competition is the Mull event on Saturday February 3 at Salen Primary School followed by the Oban area competition at Atlantis on the late afternoon and evening of Wednesday February 28.
The Kintyre area competition is planned for Sunday March 4 and will be held in the Victoria Hall in Campbeltown.
The best of the young athletes from the four local events will then progress to take part in the Argyll Final to be held at Atlantis Leisure in Oban on Sunday, March 25.
Mid Argyll Athletic Club have been promoting this form of indoor athletics every winter since 1994 using specialist equipment for various running, jumping and throwing events.
Each local area contest provides competition for six age groups starting from under 7 up to under 17 with seven different running, jumping and throwing events.
Everyone taking part in the local events will receive a medal and trophies will be awarded to the overall winners in each age category.
An entry fee of £2 per competitor will be levied and £5 for families of three or more.
This is an ideal opportunity to come and try athletics for the first time taking part indoors in a warm and dry environment.
