Oban golfer Robert MacIntyre will compete for Great Britain and Ireland this weekend in the Walker Cup.

The 21-year-old golfer joins a team of 10 that will take on the USA at the Los Angeles Country Club on September 9-10.

The Great Britain and Ireland team hope to retain the bi-annual competition, which they won back in 2015.

MacIntyre has also taken a step forward in regards to turning professional next year, as he recently signed an am-to-pro agreement with the management company Bounce Sport.

‘I’m delighted to be joining Bounce Sport for the next stage of my golfing career,’ he said.

‘It’s been something I’ve been thinking about over the past year and to finally get things going is great.

‘Bounce Sport have done a great job with other golfers at the end of their amateur careers and the start of a new chapter for them in the professional ranks, as both guys look like they are finding their feet well.’
