Oban lifeboat was launched yesterday (Monday July 10) to help a cabin cruiser with engine failure close to Lismore.

It was the second launch by the volunteer crew in two days. Stornoway Coastguard requested their assistance at 4.04pm to aid a 26ft cabin cruiser with two people aboard that had lost all power close in shore at the south end of Lismore.

The cruise vessel Glen Etive had diverted to assist as the lifeboat made best speed towards the scene.

Once in the area, Oban lifeboat established a tow with the vessel and proceeded to Dunstaffnage Marina. With no further assistance from the Glen Etive needed, they were free to continue on their way.

Oban lifeboat arrived at Dunstaffnage by 5.54pm where the casualty vessel was safely brought alongside with the help of Oban’s Coast Rescue Team.

Oban lifeboat then returned to station, arriving back at the berth by 6.25pm.
