Oban Sailing Club is holding a fun day and inviting everyone to come and try sailing and power boating for free on Saturday May 20.
The event is part of a nine- day UK-wide event that will see hundreds of people taking part in the sport, with open days and taster sessions taking place at sailing clubs and centres across the UK.
One of the organisers, Finlo Cottier, said: ‘Whether you’re completely new to the sport or looking to get back on the water, the fun day is part of the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) Push the Boat Out event and is the perfect time to give it a go. We’re inviting the local community to come down to have a go at sailing in dinghies and keelboats, and have go at powerboating, and to get involved with Oban Sailing Club.
‘Oban is an important hub for watersports in Argyll and here’s a chance to come and give it a try. Sailing can be as physical or as relaxing as you want to make it, you can sail with others or on your own, do it competitively or just enjoy the gentle escape of being outside in the elements.’
The event starts at 10am, with a whole host of activities taking place on the water and ashore.
