Lighting, hot water and more
Following on from last month, we’ve had the good news that Resource Efficient Scotland has confirmed our eligibility for a loan to replace inefficient items around the centre.
We are currently obtaining quotes for the different aspects of this work and we are keen to progress this as soon as possible so that we can start to make financial savings on the running of the centre.
Fitness class instructors challenge
As several key members of our team are moving on, we will be looking for new fitness class instructors over the coming months to ensure we can continue to offer the extensive Atlantis programme of 50 classes a week. Keep an eye on the Atlantis Facebook page if you’d like to apply and let your fitness-minded friends know.
Tiger Play, the team which installed the Lost City softplay four years ago, is currently designing an improved under-threes area. Look out for the first set of designs on the notice board next to softplay. The team is looking into different funding options as to how best to fund these improvements.
To enhance your cafe comfort, we have ordered some sample furniture for the area which will be in place for you to try in the next few weeks.
The following items have been completed in the past few weeks:
Staff training: Sophie MacInnes is just back from eight days’ training to complete her level two swimming qualification. She will be joining a team of 12 other level two instructors, in addition to our 12 level one instructors.
Tennis courts: The tennis courts have just had their first clean ready for the new season. A machine lifts and cleans the sand and then brushes it back in, improving the surface. Coaching for all ages is starting back now the weather is improving and we have all the equipment to play.
Gym mats: We have invested just over £1,000 in new gymnastics mats for the Saturday children’s sessions as the old ones were 20 years old and looking very tatty.
