Sharing a passion for quality ingredients and creativity in the kitchen, Roddy Munro and Ùisdean Macleod join forces in a new series on BBC ALBA, The Kitchen Coves / Seòid a Chidsin, to enthuse amateur cooks everywhere.

Roddy and Ùisdean, from the islands of Harris and Lewis respectively, like to relax in the heat of the kitchen, creatively combining ingredients to make the most of them.

Each of the six programmes in the series takes a theme, or a specific ingredient, inspiring the two culinary explorers to create a variety of dishes, including for the family day out, preparing a sumptuous barbecue, and a Saturday night curry.

The duo learn how to use a food smoker, preparing pastrami and smoked salmon. Ever adventurous, they create a delicious Mojito Cheesecake and ‘Coq au Can’, chicken cooked on a beer can.

With locally-sourced produce they cook American style, making New England Chowder and a Jambalaya. Side salads, dressings and a variety of accompanying sauces all feature to complete their culinary creations.
