A new adventure playground on Arisaig playing field was finally completed last week with the installation of the last piece of equipment.

Arisaig Community Trust (ACT) volunteers finished the latest phase of the park when they installed a new scramble frame.

ACT negotiated a long-term lease for a village playing field in 2011. After several fundraising efforts, trust volunteers made the field suitable for community use and bought new children’s play equipment to be installed around the main pitch area.

With skills, time and effort by community volunteers, installation of the new play equipment began in 2016 and was completed with the new climbing frame being installed. It has already proved a hit with village youngsters.

Now work is complete in the main playing field, the trust aims to start fundraising for a makeover of the much-used adjacent junior play park.

Gordon Stewart said: ‘The major upgrade of the village field and installation of the equipment has been an important and satisfying project for the Community Trust to undertake.’ He thanked all of the volunteers who had been involved.

‘All of the equipment is constructed from sustainable and durable Robinia wood supplied by Edinburgh-based company Jupiter Play,’ added Gordon.
