BEATH – Suddenly at home, on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, Ian (Andrew), aged 74. Dearly beloved husband of Betty, much loved father and father-in-law of Andrew and Liz and Anna and Kevin and adored Grandpa to his five grandchildren. Farewell gathering at Argyllshire Gathering Halls at 1.00p.m on Wednesday, January 25 and service at Dundee Crematorium at 10.15a.m. on Thursday, January 26. Family flowers only.
MACVEAN – Peacefully at her home, Dalvore, Kilmichael Glassary, on January 21, 2017, Elizabeth Janet (Betty) MacVean, née MacDonald, aged 82 years, beloved wife of Alasdair MacVean and loving mother of Eric, John, Angus, Peter and Elizabeth. Dear sister of the late Angus, Margaret, Marjory, Donald, Colin and Ian and a much loved aunt, great aunt and cousin to all the family. A good neighbour and dear friend to many. McLUCKIE – On Monday January 23, 2017, at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, in his 60th year, after a brave battle with Motor Neurone Disease, Peter, finally lost the fight, loving husband of Caroline, devoted father to Gregor, Kristopher and Jennifer and adored Seanair to Summer, Lewis, Emma, Rowan, Katy, Jonothan, and Isla. He will be sorely missed. A Celebration of Life will take place at Oban Parish Church, Glencruitten Road, Oban, on Tuesday January 31, 2017, at 1.00 p.m. Thereafter to Pennyfuir Cemetery. Family flowers only. Retiral collection/donations if desired, will be taken for Motor Neurone Disease Scotland and Ward 7D at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
ROSS – (Kincraig). Peacefully at home on January 22, 2017. Donnie Ross, shepherd of Leault Farm, Kincraig, dearly loved husband of Margaret, loving father to Donnie, Peter, Neil, Eillean and Duncan and doting grandfather of seven. A friend to many who will be sadly missed. Funeral service to take place at Kingussie Parish Church on Monday January 30, 2017 at 12.00 noon and thereafter to Leault Farm, Kincraig. DOUGLAS – Irene and family both at home and abroad would like to thank everyone for their overwhelming love and support, cards and flowers, following the sudden death of Andrew in Majorca. Also those who travelled from near and far despite the wind and snow to pay their respects. We would also thank Mike McFall for liaising with the repatriation service so efficiently to ensure Andrew arrived home safely to Scotland. Our thanks also to Rev Donald MacCorkindale for his very apt and moving service. Kate Cruickshank for the music, Charles and Sally of Lochaline Hotel for the catering and last but not least Raj for piping Highland Cathedral at the graveside in such atrocious weather. The sum of £200 (plus a silver Canadian $5 piece) collected, will be donated to Lochaber Macmillan Nurses.
JOHNSTON – The family would like to thank relatives, friends, neighbours and everyone who helped during the sad loss of Duncan, a much loved husband to the late Margaret, father and grandfather. Special thanks to neighbours Margaret and Rod Connelly for their care and friendship; to Catriona and staff of Hamish Hoey and Son for unfailing support and guidance. Heartfelt thanks to Mgr. James MacNeil for his constant kindness from Duncan’s death to the deeply spiritual and dignified Requiem Mass with beautiful music. The sum of £680 has gone to Mary’s Meals in Duncan’s memory.
MACGILLIVRAY – Corinne and Alan Barrie would like to thank Glenisla Care Home in Keith, Moray for all their attentive care, Catriona and all the staff at Hamish Hoey and Sons for their support and highly professional service, Rev. Dugald Cameron for a personal and very apposite funeral service, the Rowantree Hotel for a lovely lunch and Moreen Gracie at the Flower Basket for their beautiful wreaths, all of which contributed to the success of our dear mother and mother-in-law, Flora MacGillivray’s funeral on Friday January 20, 2017. We would also like to thank all her dear friends and relations who attended the service to make it a special and personal, if sad, day.
MACKECHNIE – Christine and family of the late John MacKechnie would like to give thanks to all the family and friends for their cards, support and expressions of sympathy since the sudden death of John. Special thanks to the emergency services in attendance and Ian MacInnes from D and A Munn for providing invaluable help and support. Heartfelt thanks also to; the Rev. W T Hogg for making the journey to deliver such a moving and fitting service, the elders of Dalmally and Innishael Parish Church for their efficiency, Alasdair MacDonald for his music during the service, Iain MacIntyre for the pipes, Moreen at the Flower Basket for the beautiful floral tributes and the Dalmally Community Hall Committee for catering after the service. The breathtaking sum of £1735 was donated to be shared between The Macmillan Suite at the Lorn and Islands Hospital and Chest, Heart and Stroke, Scotland. RIP.
MACLELLAN – Ann would like to very sincerely thank all family, friends and neighbours for the many letters, cards, flowers and loving expressions of sympathy and support at the recent untimely loss of John. I also appreciate everyone who made the long journey over to Islay from around Scotland and the South of England, in some cases through snow. I also thank the people of Islay who came to say farewell to John, he would have been very proud. Thank you to Jean and Craig MacAffer Funeral Directors, Islay who went out of their way to advise sympathetically and make all the arrangements seem so simple for John’s return passage back to Islay. Also a heartfelt thanks to John MacDougall for sharing memories of John and Rev. Valerie Watson for her very comforting and uplifting service at St Kiarans Church and also at Kilnave Cemetery, Gruinart. To Fiona Doyle for her wonderful floral arrangements which were very much admired. The Port Charlotte Hotel who served up a much appreciated purvey, most welcome after the cold wind of Loch Gruinart. Last, but by no way least, our neighbour Kirsty Hosie who arrived within minutes of a call for help, took charge and notified the services just what was needed then looked after John till the ambulance arrived.
MACLENNAN – Neil MacLennan would like to thank all relatives and friends for the kind expressions of sympathy at the recent bereavement of his father. Thanks to those who donated to Alzheimer Scotland. Special thanks to John Fraser and Son, Chapel Street, Inverness for their compassion and support with funeral arrangements.
