BIRTHS

CAMPBELLOn Christmas Day 2016 to David and Charlotte, a son, Tommy Noel.  A wee brother for Evan. Grateful thanks to all the midwives involved.

MACLEOD – To Joseph and Rona, a son, Hamish Alexander, born on January 7 in Edinburgh.  First grandchild to Alistair and Marie MacLeod, Morar and third grandchild to Bob and Alison MacKinnon, Inverness.

DEATHS

BROWN – Mary (Morag). Mary, formerly of 11 Lochaber Place, Fort William. Died peacefully, on Monday January 9, 2017, at Norwood Care Home, Barrhead. A dearly loved mum of Anne. Will be missed by all the family. A Funeral Service will be held at Woodside Crematorium, Paisley, on Saturday January 21, at 11a.m.

CAMPBELL – Iain OBE, FRCS Ed (Cardrona/Fort William).

Peacefully in the loving care of Cluny Lodge on January 12, 2017, Iain Campbell OBE, FRCS Ed, aged 95 years. Kind and always loving husband of Patricia (Paddy), a dear father and father-in-law to Elspeth and Neil, Angus and Julie, Hugh, Moira and Andy, much loved grandpa to Euan, Maisie, Kate and Lucy and great grandpa of Owen. Private cremation, a memorial service will be held in Innerleithen Church of Scotland on Tuesday January 24 at 12 noon, to which all friends are respectfully invited. No black ties please at Iain’s request.

DUNLOP – Agnes Mary (Nancy) passed away peacefully, in her 90th year, at the Lynn of Lorne Care Home, Benderloch. Beloved wife of the late Carleton and loving stepmother, sister and aunt. Funeral will be held in the Oban Parish Church on Monday January 23 at 1.00 pm.

GRAHAM – Peacefully at Perth Royal Infirmary on Thursday January 12, 2017. Mary Graham (née Brady) aged 82 years, formerly of Fort William, latterly Scone. Beloved wife of Alexander, much loved and loving mother of Peter, Colin, Brian and Angela. Very proud Gran and Great-Gran. Requiem Mass on Friday January 20, 2017 at 12 noon in St Mary’s Church Fort William and thereafter to Glen Nevis Cemetery. Family flowers only please.

HYSLOP – Valerie Graham, formerly of HM Diplomatic Service, dear daughter of the late William and Ellen (Helen) Hyslop of Glasgow, died on January 7, 2017, at North Argyll House, Oban (formerly of Parkgate, Duncraggan Road, Oban). Valerie led a very happy life in Oban after an adventurous time overseas; she was rich in friends and was a great animal lover. Funeral will take place at Clydebank Crematorium on Saturday January 21 at 9.30 am

MACDONALD – Morag, formerly of 36 Lundavra Road, Fort William passed away peacefully at her home in Surrey, aged almost 77. She had suffered from MS for many years. Dear sister of Rosa, Ronald and Lilian.

MACGILLIVRAY –  Peacefully, on Wednesday January 11,  2017, at Glenisla Care Home, Keith, Flora MacFarlane, aged 88, a wonderful mother to Corinne, mother-in-law to Alan and dear wife to the late Hugh.  Always in our thoughts and forever in our hearts.  Funeral service at Oban Old Parish Church at 1pm on Friday  January 20.  Flowers welcome.

MACMILLAN – Alexander (Leek), age 78, formerly of North Connel, peacefully at home on Friday January 13, 2017. Beloved husband of Lorna and much loved dad and papa. Service at Clydebank Crematorium at10.30am on Tuesday January 24.

McGREGOR HOWARD – Peacefully on January 13, 2017 at the Mull and Iona Hospital, after a short illness bravely borne, Tessa McGregor Howard, Isle of Ulva, aged 58 years. Adored wife and mother and a friend to many. Funeral service will be held at Kilmore Parish Church, Dervaig, Isle of Mull on Tuesday January 24, 2017 at 11.30am. Thereafter to Calgary Cemetery. Family flowers only please donations if wished to Mary’s Meals.

STRAKER – Tragically on January 2, 2017 in Rothesay, Gordon, a much loved son, brother and father. Funeral service at Cardross Crematorium on Friday January 20 at 12.15pm.

MACCORQUODALE-The MacCorquodale family would like to thank all family, friends and neighbours for their continued support, especially during the last few months of John’s life. Our sincere thanks for all the cards, telephone calls and visits throughout this difficult time. Thanks to those who attended in church and those who braved the weather to attend at the graveside, to the staff of Port Appin Surgery, in particular Lorna Paterson for her gentle and compassionate care, to the staff of Lynn of Lorne Nursing Home and Wards B and I of Lorn and Islands Hospital; to the local community – the bakers, soup makers and servers – for the wonderful spread in the hall afterwards, to Rev Iain Barclay for a lovely service, to organist Catriona MacKenzie, to Dr Iain McNicol for a touching eulogy, to Duncan Gunn for his care and efficiency and our grateful thanks to R S McColl and Alan Colthart for their services. The retiring collection of £600 will be donated to Appin Medical Fund and Port Appin Lunch Club.

SINCLAIR – The family of the late John Sinclair would like to thank all family, friends and neighbours for messages of sympathy and support received during our recent bereavement. Thanks to Dr Glen, Oban Home Care Team, staff of wards A and B at Lorn and Islands Hospital, Oban Dementia team and Mags Fitzpatrick and Jim Bowers of Helping Hands. Special thanks to the staff of North Argyll House for their loving care of John in the last years of his life. We would also like to thank Rev. James Beaton for his comforting service, Ian Mac Innes of D and A Munn for his caring and efficient funeral arrangements, Moreen Gracie for the beautiful flowers and the Royal Hotel for excellent catering. Our grateful thanks to all from near and far who attended the service and burial. The retiring collection for North Argyll House raised the sum of £400.
