Wick Academy 2
Fort William 0
Highland League

Fort William travelled north last Saturday to face an in-form Wick Academy who were looking to win their sixth successive match.

And unfortunately for the Fort the home side did grab a win to continue their impressive recent run of form.

Goals either side of half time, from Gary Weir and Steven Anderson, eventually saw Academy break down an impressive and hard working Fort William side, who will be quite justifiably disappointed that their afternoon efforts didn’t bring them any reward.

Saturday’s result coupled with Strathspey Thistle’s draw against Nairn County sees the Fort return to bottom of the table.

This year’s Fort William F.C’s sportsman dinner will take place on Saturday March 25 at the Moorings Hotel, Fort William.

Guest speakers are John McGovern and Sandy Strang.

A spokesperson for the club told The Oban Times: ‘Scots born McGovern was a double Eurpoean Cup winning captain on the great Nottingham Forest side in the late 70s and early 80s, under ‘legendry management of the great Brian Clough.

‘After dinner speaker Sandy Strang is a stand up comedian and very experienced journalist who has had long running columns on features and sports from The Herald, The Edinburgh Evening News, The Sun and Scotland on Sunday.
