THE TOY Cupboard celebrated its 25th anniversary on Saturday with a birthday party in the Corran Halls,

which included two fantastic face painters, a bouncy castle, a touchpool from the Sealife Centre, animals from Pets at Home, all sorts of stalls, cakes and dancing from Claire Hutchison ‘Born to Move’, from Atlantis Leisure, and Adele Askew’s wonderful Highland dancers.

The original founders and members joined in the celebrations; Sue Porter, Alison MacKenzie and June Bleazard,  and Susie Hutchison – who until very recently was the able secretary and mother of Claire, who led the dancing – and patron Joy Blakeny, who was involved in setting up toy libraries in Scotland.

Toy Cupboard began as Lorn Toy Library which lent toys for a small weekly fee and has grown to three weekly play sessions, including one in Gaelic, as well as lending toys to families and local children’s organisations.
