Two kind-hearted sisters from Mid Argyll won the first Oban Times Angel of the Year accolade.

Helen McCuaig and Lizzie Scott have worked tirelessly to support their local community in Kilmichael-Glassary as well as anumber of charities.

‘We are delighted to be the first winners,’ declared the sisters.

Runners up included Struan Thorpe, Lochgilphead for his work with Mid Argyll Pipe Band and Cristoph Josepeit, formerly from Germany but now lving in Oban and working as a street sweeper, with highly commended awards for Helen MacKay, Ulva School Community Association and Lucy Helcock and Macmillan Cancer Support Team at Lorn and Islands Hospital in Oban.
