Fun in the sun at the Argyllshire Gathering brought a great crowd out to enjoy the annual event. And with record breaking attempts by local woman Nicola Meekin, adulation for Argyll's finest heavyweight and the wonderful sound of Oban High School Pipe Band it was a day not to be missed.

Lorn Drama Festival


The Oban Times popped into see Spotlight Musical Theatre Group in one of its final rehearsals for the Woody Allen Play "Old Saybrook" which they are performing as their entry for the Lorn Drama Festival 2010 in The Corran Halls Oban and captured these few moments of drama.
Old Saybrook was written by Woody Allen and is performed by permission of Samuel French Ltd.

Fraser’s Dragoones at Duart Castle


Duart Castle on Mull has come under attack as the Frasers Dragoones re-enact the 1647 siege of the Clan Maclean strong hold.

The Dragoones recently paid their annual visit to the castle, where they set up camp in true 1640s style and showed visitors to the castle how soldiers of the day dressed, lived and fought.

The re-enactment was of the Covenanters Campbells siege of the castle to subdue the royalist Macleans.
