As the runners set out on the pre-peak race around Oban’s Pulpit Hill on May 13 2011 with great hopes for the three-peaks Scottish Islands Peaks Race 2011,the boats awaited in the bay, with dinghies gathered off Oban Sailing Club,to take the hill runners to their first peak up Ben More on Mull. From there it was a sail to Jura for runners to tackle Beinn a’Chaolais before heading down round the Mull of Kintyre for Arran and Goat Fell. Unfortunately several boats had to pull out after encountering Force 9 winds around the Mull of Kintyre.
