Tobermory lifeboat went to the aid of a fishing vessel seven miles to the west of the Isle of Coll in a Force 9 gale with 60mph gusts and 6-8 metre waves. The lifeboat towed the casualty to the Isle of Tiree where the skipper had arranged for the tow to be passed to another fishing boat whilst the lifeboat stood by. Unfortunately that tow rope broke close into shore and the fishing vessel went aground. The lifeboat managed to pass another tow to the casualty in confined waters and recover it to Tobermory.
