Former Oban High secretary celebrates 90th birthday

isa-macinnes ANYONE who went to Oban High School in the 1950s,‘60s,and ‘70s will remember school secretary Isa MacInnes.

Isa,of Torosay Court, Oban celebrated her 90^th birthday on May 31 2013 and there was a steady stream of friends and family at her door to wish her well with cards and flowers.

The former school secretary out-lasted four head teachers at the school.

More than 400 sign Oban rent plea petition

syfg-petition More than 400 people have signed a petition asking Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) to reconsider its decision to put the rent up from £100 to £3,600 a year on a property used by community organisation Soroba Young Family Group,a registered charity.

‘Greed’at the root of council woes

‘Greed’has been blamed for the collapse of Argyll and Bute Council’s SNP-led administration. Council leader James Robb resigned as a result of the SNP’s National Executive Committee suspending membership of its Argyll and Bute councillors following a ‘deal’with the council’s Liberal Democrat and Conservative members.
