THE SALE of paintings on display in an art exhibition in Kyleakin has helped raise £450 for a day centre in the village.
The exhibition, The World is Ours, was a bigger success than expected.
The opening saw scores of people from around Skye and Lochalsh turning up.
The group who put the exhibition together are all members of Kyleakin Day Centre, which caters for people with learning disabilities in South Skye and Lochalsh.
They sold nearly all their paintings and will use the proceeds for further exhibitions or maybe an outing.
The group are Jamie Fraser of Kyle, Cameron Reid of Kyleakin, Ewen MacLure of Glenelg and David MacRae from Dornie.
They are avid painters and worked on items for their exhibition for a year. They make crafts which they sell in local shops and have set up their own trading firm called The Woodpeckers.

Cameron, describing his favourite subjects for painting, said: ‘I have a sun and moon in all my pictures. I like the sun to make it a little bright, like day, and the moon to give a bit of darkness, like night.’
Art tutor Susan Walker was delighted by the community’s response to the exhibition.
She said: ‘A lot of people bought pictures. They did so because they wanted a picture for their wall and not out of charity. It’s been really successful.’
The exhibition was sponsored by Roddy Morrison who has a joinery business in Kyleakin and by British Trust Hotels.
The pictures were framed by Jan Davies of The Studio in Plockton.
