Following a lorry fire on the A82 north of Fort William, near Torlundy on Monday October 15 2012,which closed the road for 10 hours, calls are being made for action to prevent such long delays in the future.
Fort William Chamber of Commerce is to raise the issue with Scottish Transport Minister Keith Brown.
Traffic was diverted on to the single-track B8004 but more delays happened when the Citylink bus from Fort William to Inverness slipped off the road trying to reverse out of the way of a lorry.
