MV Isle of Mull ferry
The MV Isle of Mull ferry from Mull to Oban was held out at sea for hours on September 25 2012 as weather conditions prevented the vessel reaching port.
The ferry left Craignure at 11.03 am on the Tuesday morning but strong winds prevented her docking in Oban until 5.40 pm.
The 120 passengers on board were kept ‘comfortable’ as the vessel sheltered behind the island of Kerrera, according to ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne.
A spokesman for the company said:‘Due to very strong winds gusting up to 70 mph in and around Oban Bay yesterday afternoon the MV Isle of Mull was unable to berth at Oban and the conditions also prevented her from returning to Craignure.
‘We did everything we could to keep passengers comfortable including providing meals and drinks, and they were kept fully informed of the situation.’
