A stone skimmer from the 2011 event
Easdale Island’s community development company,Eilean Eisdeal,is to investigate a community buy-out of the former slate island after a last minute bid to save the World Stone Skimming Championships.
There were worries that the championships would not go ahead on Sunday,at 12 noon, after island owner Jonathoan Feigenbaum told the community group it would not have permission to run the event without paying a £1,000 fee and producing a public liability licence.
However,a deal was struck with a £1,000 donation on Wednesday,September 19 2012 but it will not safeguard the event for future years.
